Excavators we rent — sizes and capacities
Excavators are matched to dig depth, working space and truck cycle. Going a class larger than needed wastes money on transport; going smaller costs days.
| Class | Operating weight | Typical work |
|---|---|---|
| Mini excavator | 3 tonne | Trenching, utilities, landscaping in tight access |
| Midi excavator | 5 tonne | Low-rise foundations, drainage, service roads |
| Standard (chain or tyre) | 20 tonne | Bulk excavation, basements, road formation |
| Heavy (PC400 class) | ~40 tonne | Mass earthworks, deep excavation, quarry duty |
| Long-boom excavator | 20 tonne+ extended reach | Deep trenching, dredging, slope shaping |
| Excavator + jackhammer | Any class with breaker | Rock breaking, demolition, asphalt removal |
Not sure which size fits your site? Send us the load, reach and ground conditions on the quote form and we'll recommend the right machine.
What drives excavator rental cost in ICAD, Abu Dhabi
There is no single answer, and any supplier quoting one before knowing your site is guessing. Excavators hire in ICAD, Abu Dhabi is priced on five things, and understanding them is usually worth more than a headline day rate, because the headline rate is rarely what you end up paying.
Operating weight is the biggest single factor
A 3-tonne mini and a 30-tonne tracked excavator are different classes of machine, and the rate reflects that. Trenching and utilities work usually runs on 3-8 tonne; bulk excavation and rock breaking needs 20 tonne and up. Specify what you will actually need rather than the average: under-specifying costs more in the end, because a second mobilisation wipes out any saving on the rate.
Hire duration changes the rate structure, not just the total
Daily hire carries the highest rate per day and suits one-off jobs and emergency cover. Weekly is usually where the per-day cost drops noticeably. Monthly gives the lowest effective rate, and is what most UAE contractors use for a machine that stays on site. If a job runs beyond a week, a monthly hire is often cheaper in total than accumulated daily rates, even if the machine goes back early. Ask for both structures before deciding.
Machine-only or operated hire
You can hire the machine alone if you have a certified operator holding a valid UAE licence for that class. If you do not, operated hire includes a trained operator and is charged separately from the machine. For short hires operated is usually the practical choice, because a machine on site with nobody cleared to run it is an expensive paperweight.
Delivery and mobilisation
Transport is quoted by distance and by whether the machine needs a low-bed. From our Mussafah yard, Mussafah, ICAD and KIZAD are short mobilisations; Abu Dhabi city and the islands are moderate; Al Ain, Dubai and the northern emirates are scheduled long-distance movements, quoted up front. Always ask for delivery and collection in the quote for ICAD, Abu Dhabi, because a rate that looks competitive without the return leg is not competitive.
Site access and compliance
Restricted-access sites, and anything needing CICPA passes for ADNOC-controlled areas, add clearance time. That is not usually a rate increase, but it does affect lead time, and lead time affects whether you end up paying for standby.
What a complete quote should include
- Machine specification and capacity
- Hire period and rate structure: daily, weekly or monthly
- Whether the rate is machine-only or operated
- Delivery and collection charges, both stated
- Fuel arrangement: who supplies it, and how it is reconciled
- Third-party inspection (TPI) certificate validity
- Insurance and damage-waiver terms
If a quote is missing any of these it is not comparable to one that includes them. Most disputes about rental cost come from items that were never quoted, not from the day rate itself. We quote per job rather than publishing a fixed rate card, because a small machine for two days and a large operated hire for a month are not the same commercial proposition. Send us the specification, site and dates and we'll give you a firm itemised figure, usually the same day.
Excavators for ICAD I, II and III
The Industrial City of Abu Dhabi sits directly beside our Mussafah base, so ICAD deliveries are among the quickest we make — often under 30 minutes gate to gate. That proximity matters in ICAD because most facilities run controlled gates: we time the truck to your gate-pass window and send operator documents ahead so excavators go straight to work instead of waiting at security.
ICAD work is heavy industry — structural steel, pipe spooling, precast, cable and drum handling — and shift-driven. We support night-shift deliveries and swap-outs between shifts, and for long-running plant contracts we can station equipment on site with scheduled service visits rather than repeated mobilisation.
- Under-30-minute typical delivery from the adjacent Mussafah yard
- Gate-pass timing and operator HSE documents handled in advance
- Night-shift and shift-change delivery slots supported
- On-site stationing with scheduled servicing for plant contracts

Can you deliver excavators to a gated ICAD facility?
Yes — most of our ICAD deliveries are into gated plants. Share the facility's gate-pass procedure and HSE requirements when you book and we will submit operator IDs, insurance and machine documents ahead of the delivery window so entry is not delayed.
