1. Lifting capacity

Lift height matters as much as weight: a forklift’s rated capacity applies at a set load centre and height, so tell the supplier how high the load goes, not just how heavy it is. 2. Hire period
- Daily hire carries the highest rate per day. It suits one-off loading jobs and short cover.
- Weekly hire usually lowers the cost per day.
- Monthly hire gives the lowest effective rate and suits a truck that stays on site or in a warehouse.

3. Electric, diesel or rough-terrain
The right type avoids problems that cost money later:
- Electric forklifts suit indoor warehousing, where fumes and noise matter.
- Diesel forklifts are the practical choice for yards, outdoor handling and heavier loads.
- Rough-terrain forklifts are built for construction sites and uneven ground.
Space matters too. In older industrial areas such as Al Quoz in Dubai, tight service yards often mean a compact counterbalance forklift will work where a larger truck cannot turn.
4. Operator or self-operated
A forklift can be hired with a certified operator, or on its own if you have a qualified operator. An operator adds to the quote but removes the question of licensing and competency from your side. When comparing quotes, check which arrangement each one assumes.
5. Delivery to your site
Delivery is part of the price. Amirah’s forklifts are based at our Mussafah yard, so Mussafah, ICAD and the rest of Abu Dhabi are the simplest to serve.
